The role

We’re looking for an exceptional teacher who’s ready to take their expertise beyond the classroom. You’ll have a track record that speaks for itself: great results, influence beyond your own classroom, and perhaps experience leading change or training other teachers. You’re the kind of practitioner other teachers already look to as an expert in their field.

At stylus, you’ll use that credibility to help school leaders see how stylus can work for them. You’ll get to know each school’s challenges in its own context and show how stylus can help solve them. Then you’ll plan with leaders for success: setting clear goals for pilots and making sure we follow through on them.

This is a varied, outward-facing role. One week you might be visiting schools and running training. The next, you could be on our stand at a conference, delivering a webinar on pedagogy and AI, or writing an article for our website. Throughout, you’ll connect our customers with our product and education teams, so that what we build reflects what teachers and leaders really need.

What you’ll do

From day one

  • Meet school leaders to understand the challenges they face in their own context, and help them see how stylus can help solve them

  • Plan for success with each school or MAT: set clear goals and expectations for pilots, and follow through on them

  • Manage relationships with school and MAT leaders throughout their pilot or subscription

  • Join the team on our stand at conferences and events, meeting potential customers and speaking to lots of school leaders

  • Work closely with the education and product teams so that what we build reflects what customers need

  • Make sure the rest of the Schools team has everything they need to support customers successfully

  • Keep accurate records and track progress across lots of schools, groups and conversations at once

As you grow

  • Work with trust leaders as well as individual schools, understanding challenges across groups of schools and planning for success at scale

  • Help shape how we run pilots, training and customer success as we grow

  • Visit schools and run training, both on how to use stylus and on the pedagogy behind it, so teachers see how it fits into really effective teaching practice

  • Deliver seminars and webinars on the pedagogy around stylus and on AI in education

  • Write articles for our website that unpack different areas of what we do, and contribute to marketing copy, our newsletters and our YouTube channel

Who you are

Essential

  • QTS holder, with demonstrable understanding of good pedagogy and pre-requisites for success in the classroom a strong record of high achievement and success in the classroom

  • Evidence of influence beyond your own classroom, such as leading change, delivering great results or training and developing other teachers

  • Excited to move into edtech and use your expertise to help school leaders get the most from stylus

  • Confident building relationships with school leaders and in designing and presenting high quality presentations presenting to any audience, from a one-to-one meeting to a conference hall

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisation: you can track progress and juggle lots of groups and conversations at once

  • Comfortable working in the private sector, encouraging schools to be customers (of the highest quality of service!) Commercially minded – you’re comfortable with the idea of selling a service to schools

  • Honest about what you don’t know. We’d rather hear “I’m not sure — can I check?” than a confident wrong answer

Desirable

  • A strong record of high achievement in classroom practice / school improvement

  • Experienced and comfortable presenting to any audience, from a one-to-one meeting to a conference hall

  • Middle or senior leadership experience

  • Experience presenting at conferences, CPD sessions or webinars

  • Interest in AI in education and how it can support great teaching

  • Experience working with or within multi-academy trusts

  • Demonstrably commercially-minded: either through experience or aspirations in the private sector

What we offer

  • A permanent, full-time role at one of the UK’s fastest-growing edtech companies

  • The chance to use your classroom expertise to shape how AI supports teaching and assessment in schools across the country

  • Real influence on the product: what you learn in schools directly shapes what we build

  • A varied role spanning school partnerships, training, events and content

  • Structured onboarding and ongoing mentoring

  • A team that’s small enough that your work visibly matters

  • Hybrid working from our London office

About stylus

It all starts with a page of writing. A Year 5 explaining how to look after a hamster. A Year 7 describing their first week of secondary school. Every week, teachers carry home piles of books like these, and every week there’s too little time to do them justice.

stylus was founded by former teachers to change that. We’re a marking service, not another tool for teachers to run. Pupils write on paper, as they always have: no logins, no laptops, no training. Teachers scan the work. We do the rest, and we answer for its quality.

We read every sentence against every criterion, because a grade is a single block of colour and we want the whole picture. That detail lets us find the one thing holding each pupil back, and group the pupils who share it, so teachers know what to teach tomorrow, and to whom.

None of this works without expert teachers. They marked everything by hand before we automated a thing, and the model is still checked against them: every disagreement reviewed, every piece of guidance rewritten until it holds. We went slow to go fast. Nothing reaches a teacher unchecked.

We take the marking, never the judgement. The AI can’t enjoy the writing; teachers should. Endorsed by the Department for Education and used in schools across the country, stylus exists to give every teacher the insight required to meet each student’s needs, without stealing time from their weekends and evenings.

That’s where you come in.
